Damascus steel originated in Syria, and was perfected in Japan in the late 1500s by Hattori Hanzo – the master Japanese knife maker.
At Thorum, we create Damascus steel by forge welding, and folding two types of steel several hundred times to create a unique water-dropped aesthetic. The Sensei features an offset 18k Rose Gold inlay, for a modern and minimal aesthetic. We hammered the Rose Gold into a channel grooved out by a lathe, and then true it into place with the work of files, and hand tools.
Each ring is unique, as is each wearer. We’ve been making the most rugged, unique, and durable rings available for over 10 years.
